| The human members enjoy being outdoors and working with their dogs. They must be physically fit and able to respond to emergencies. The member must become proficient in land navigation, map reading, compass reading, radio communication, wilderness survival, CPR and first aid. The dog member must be trainable, have endurance, basic obedience or manners in public, and must be able to get along with other dogs. Most handlers begin training with a young puppy, however, an older dog may be trainable if the dog has already developed a good working relationship with its owner. The Search and Rescue Dog Team trains in various areas of Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. We are willing to train in your area with your help by calling one of the numbers on the home page Training is usually conducted on the weekends; night search training will vary. If interested in observing, becoming a support person, or scheduling a demonstration, please contact the officers on the home page for dates and times. |
